The apple ecosystem

The company reaching almost a trillion dollars in market cap may not seem that fascinating at first but what makes the company run so well? This piece of writing will give you information on the strategies that make Apple run like it presently is and believe me it will leave you in awe.
There is a special term Apple users employ for this - ecosystem and you will understand why.
Apple first came up with the concept of a touchscreen phone that revolutionised the market and as this kept growing enormously in popularity, the lack of tough competitors established a brand name in the branch of handheld devices for the company that was already popular in the computer industry for the macintosh. So let us go back to the scenario in 2007. The Apple iPhone was the first touchscreen phone with ease of use to be released and was not exactly budget friendly but people still began buying it anyway as this was a first for the world. The excellent build quality, reliability, ease of use of its OS and excellent customer service just contributed to the sales and the fanatic following. The year marked the beginning of the ‘ecosystem’. Fast forward a few years from then and Apple had already become a pain for the competition - while most of the competition ran on a common operating system, everything about Apple iPhone and its unique features made people prefer it more and more. Along with the iPhone was another one of the family of Apple devices, the iPad. The iPad just made Apple more and more popular, the tablet that launched with their very own operating system would go on to be the only series of bigger devices that would run even in the future years. The plant now started to grow. The iPod which already existed coupled with iPad, iPhone and even the MacBook that released in 2009 already made it a complete ecosystem, but this was not enough as not many people wanted to own all of the devices. iCloud was their knight in shining armour. iCloud introduced the idea of cloud storage and was like the missing link that connected all the devices. People could now take images and not worry which device they were viewing it on, as long as it was one of apple’s. The iCloud would back it up and  the picture would be there for viewing of all Apple devices . The plant grew a stem and started to expand its branches now. Apple then continued their success by expanding into other countries. This widened the customer base of Apple. A few years, and by 2014 Apple had given another reason for their customer base to come back to the company, the introduction of a bigger, better than ever iPhone - The iPhone 6. It brought a change into the consistent bulky design of Apple phone. It brought along new colours and a brand new metal back. This is when the plant began to grow its roots firmly and began transforming into something bigger - a tree. The MacBooks, iPods, iPhones, iPads and other products were selling everywhere. Seven years in and Apple still maintained their reputation. People now began buying more than one of the devices as the software enhancements just made the products even more functional together. A person sitting at home could be reading a news article on the iPad and could pick where he left off on the iPhone. This, of course applied for most of their devices. People were now under the grasps of Apple. The comfort it allowed just made people used to it and now was when the Apple Watch came in, another entry that Apple made into a new category of technology. This watch had features such as a tough sapphire display and a new sporty design made people crave for it but at the introduction they only worked with iPhones and thus people who already owned the devices welcomed another one to the family and some started fresh and experienced the convenience of the Apple ecosystem for the first time. Dive back into 2018 and now Apple is at its epitome of success. Apple introduced yet another revolutionary design by introducing the widely admired ‘notch’ design and reminding the other phone companies that it’s habit of revolutionising the phone industry would not end. Now there is the Apple HomePod, iPhone, iPad, iPod, MacBook, iMac, air pods, Apple Watch and the Apple TV. The true Apple lovers probably own most of these devices already and know the joy and convenience of being a part of the ecosystem. Now whoever owns more than one Apple device knows that shifting to an entirely different ecosystem would mean giving up all the convenient features of the apple ecosystem. People were made to think in such a way that they preferred to pay a premium to get the quality and functionality of Apple devices. The tree has now grown. So, it is like a place with four walls, high up till as far as you can see but inside the walls lies a paradise that most would not complain about. How do you feel about this strategy? Amazing right? It’s no wonder that the company is one of the worlds most profitable phone manufacturers. Please leave your suggestions.
